Floriography "Smoky Hinoki" Limited Edition

$88

Floriography is the secret language of flowers, a story told through arrangements and iconography in art and literature across cultures for thousands of years.

Originally created as an evolution of our Signature collection of perfumes and home fragrance, we are releasing this limited edition range of 3 scented candles now in honor of this form of cryptological communication—as a symbol of our need to stay creative and connected.

Most all fragrances are built on a foundation of flowers. This collection is also inspired by tea ceremonies, incense rituals, embedded and imagined odors and souvenirs.

Each container is one-of-a-kind porcelain, cast by hand at our studio in NYC. Color appearing to be brushed atop the surface of the vessel is, upon closer inspection, charcoal-stained slip painted inside the mold, inlaid within the natural, uncolored porcelain. Clay is sourced from Upstate New York.

SMOKY HINOKI
Smoke and ash suggest warmth, while herbal elements stimulate and inspire. This assemblage is calming yet wild, centering cedar and the palo santo ritual in a way that is both comforting and new.
Notes: amber, cedar, palo santo, leather, rosemary, fig leaf and birch tar.

Chipboard used for the box is produced in Philadelphia by transforming paper waste (recycled newspaper, folding cartons, cardboard) and is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. Paper wrap is acid free, carbon-free and pH neutral. Coating facility runs on 100% natural gas, reducing emissions, while a proprietary water treatment facility filters out impurities and returns clean water to the community. All paper waste is recycled, and coating waste is qualified for composting.

– Trim wicks to 1/4" before lighting

– Burn candle for no less than 1 hour and no more than 3 hours at a time. This prevents wax tunneling

– Discontinue use when 1/2" of wax remain

Once your candle is finished and the vessel is ready to be repurposed, we recommend using a dry tissue, towel or rag by hand to wipe off any soot (carbon) that may have accumulated on the inside of the container. You should discard this tissue or rag, so using a dish brush is not advisable. After this process—once the soot has been removed—a hand-wash in soapy water to remove last elements of excess should do the trick. For any stubborn pieces of wax remaining, leaving the container in a freezer overnight usually encourages the wax to shrink and ultimately pop out. Metal wick stabilizers should also pop out without issue.
