Shantell Martin x Joya "Artist Edition" XL Candle (Three-Wick)
Artist Shantell Martin and Joya have collaborated on a candle that brings attention to the passage of time. The themes are focus, everyday hours and minutes spent, and the ways in which an artist chooses to spend their time. Developed with Shantell’s input, Joya scent selections (with notes of shaded green tea, ocean air, heliotrope petals, vanilla flower and more) are meant to enhance these timely motifs!
Produced in limited quantities and edition with a stamp, our Artist XL three-wick candles are handmade in our ceramic studio and are made of cast porcelain. The vessels feature original artwork by Shantell–hand-painted using multiple tools, techniques and textures, vertically at our studio. Each contains different accents of 22k white gold, reflecting the uniqueness of every piece.
Each limited edition porcelain vessel contains an even more complex layered wax process that allows for two different scents to activate together while burning–twice. Each distinctive scent is released after a specific lapse of time and helps to indicate a specific mark of time.
The burn time for the whole vessel is approximately 145 hours a.k.a. 8700 minutes. Each layer (total of three) burns for approximately 48 hours a.k.a. 2900 minutes.

Approximate Burn Time: 100 Hours
Each porcelain container is made by hand. Handpoured in our NYC studio and can be repurposed once its initial use is complete. The wax is soy blend and the scent is essential oil and fine fragrance. The wick is cotton.
- Trim wicks to 1/4" before lighting
– Burn candle for no less than 1 hour and no more than 3 hours at a time. This prevents wax tunneling
– Discontinue use when 1/2" of wax remain
Once your candle is finished and the vessel is ready to be repurposed, we recommend using a dry tissue, towel or rag by hand to wipe off any soot (carbon) that may have accumulated on the inside of the container. You should discard this tissue or rag, so using a dish brush is not advisable. After this process—once the soot has been removed—a hand-wash in soapy water to remove last elements of excess should do the trick. For any stubborn pieces of wax remaining, leaving the container in a freezer overnight usually encourages the wax to shrink and ultimately pop out. Metal wick stabilizers should also pop out without issue.
