Vogue: A New Brooklyn Fragrance Destination…

There’s a renaissance afoot in Brooklyn’s industrial Wallabout neighborhood that’s bringing a new generation of makers to the historic manufacturing enclave. The stretch of Flushing Avenue between the Navy Yard and the outskirts of the Fort Greene area is already home to the Mast Brothers chocolate production facility and Parlor Coffee’s roasting and tasting room. Starting today, perfumer Frederick Bouchardy will join them with his Joya fragrance house’s first-ever flagship. Part retail gallery, part fully operational production facility (candle, soap, and ceramic fabrication and small-batch perfume and diffuser blending all take place here), the unique multiuse space offers fragrance-philes a chance to pull back the curtain—or slide open the floating steel-and-wood panels, in this case—on niche fragrance manufacturing, and then take home a scented souvenir from the experience.
