SOSUPERSAM's World in Incense
First tendrils of scented smoke curl upward— weightless, rhythmic—disappearing quickly as they form, like a melody dissolving into silence. Garden, SOSUPERSAM’s first vocal EP, is an atmosphere, a feeling that drifts through space and memory.
To bring that experience beyond sound, we created a signature incense—a physical extension of the album, meant to linger as music does—in partnership with Sam. We set out to translate her personal style and that resonance into scent, crafting an incense that extends the music, settling into air the way a song stays with you.
"Wow, been almost 10 years since Sam and I met through a mutual friend. I admire people with a clear vision, original aesthetic, signature style. What Joya does evolves and always aims for that goal, which is challenging, as the heart of our output–the design of scent–is invisible."

Samantha Duenas, known professionally as SOSUPERSAM, is a DJ, vocalist and curator of sonic landscapes. Her artistry is rooted in rhythm and atmosphere, the interplay of movement and emotion that shaped the way we approached developing her fragrance. It had to come across fluid yet intentional, subtle yet immersive, mirroring the textures of Garden.
This incense, the natural medium for this expression, was designed to exist alongside the album, much like a vinyl pressing or a visual memento, but experienced through scent. Sam received multiple submissions and gravitated toward Scent No.2—drawn to Habanolide, a modern musk that expands and diffuses: effortless yet full, leaving a quiet imprint. Powdery, soft floral nuances were interwoven.
Some projects push us to rethink how scent interacts with the world around. This one challenged us to capture an artist’s sonic statement, to translate not just sound but sensation into something tactile that lingers—not just in air, but in memory. After all, scent—like sound—doesn’t just fill space. It leaves something behind, felt even in its absence.
Some projects push us to rethink how scent interacts with the world around it. This one challenged us to capture an artist’s sonic world in fragrance—to translate not just sound but sensation into something tactile. To shape something that lingers—not just in air, but in memory. We experimented with diffusion, burn time, and how fragrance drifts and settles—seeking to create something that doesn’t overpower but invites that fades yet never entirely disappears. The result is an incense that carries Garden’s energy beyond sound, shifting between presence and impermanence—like a song that plays in your mind long after it ends. Because scent, like sound, doesn’t just fill a space—it leaves something behind, something felt even in its absence.
